NEW CONTEST!

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

Most of my contests run monthly, but Fresh Fiction, which hosts the contests, likes to do “themed” contests that don’t follow monthly rules. And when it’s Valentines Day, and the prize is chocolate, why wait for February? For a chance to heat up your Valentine thoughts with a trio of Godiva hot chocolate selections, visit http://freshfiction.com/contest.php?id=4055 to enter my Velvet Hot Chocolate contest! YUM…

BREAKING NEWS AT LAST!

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

It’s been a long wait, but the official news is finally in: UK and NA historicals will merge next year and be simultaneously released on both sides of the pond. So no more will you see a book on one side of the Atlantic have a cover which then appears on a completely different book on the other side. Not sure whether the UK or NA “style” will be used, but as of May 2012, only one cover per book and the English-language paper and digital editions will appear simultaneously in the UK and NA markets.

The first part of the year will be taken up with “evening out” books that have been released on one side or the other but not both; then in May, all new releases will make their appearance in both locales at the same time. Because of the shift-over, Max’s book, completed and approved this spring, won’t come out until after May and still doesn’t have an official release date. Probably it will be released soon before Will’s book, on which I’m working now. Historicals Senior editor Linda Fildew said final details on the 2012 schedule are now being sorted out, so I’m hoping to know something by summer’s end.

MAX’S BOOK ACCEPTED!

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

I’m happy and relieved to receive word from my editor that Max and Caroline’s book has been accepted and put into the system for release. No date for that, or hint of a title for the book (or, for that matter, for the series itself; it may end up eventually being called something other than “Ransleigh Rogues.”) Now on to finishing the Undone that will accompany Max’s book, the story of Caroline’s cousin Elizabeth. After that, I’ll start work on Book 2 of the Rogues, which will feature Max’s black sheep cousin Will, illegitimate son of Max’s uncle, the earl’s brother. Returning after serving with the occupation forces in Paris following Waterloo, he’s outraged that Max’s brilliant diplomatic career was destroyed at the Congress of Vienna. Vowing to find the woman responsible and drag her back to testify and exonerate Max, Will sets off for Vienna. But Elodie Lefevre turns out to be not at all like the callous femme fatale he was anticipating.

NEW COVER!

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Julia is thrilled with the cover of her upcoming August book, THE SMUGGLER AND THE SOCIETY BRIDE! (check the Bookshelf page for a peek!) Although Honoria appears a bit too demure to be in character, Gabe is displayed in all his roguish charm. So far, all the covers we’ve seen for the Regency Silk & Scandal continuity series have been beautiful; check the RS&S page on the Bookshelf tab to view the covers for THE LORD AND THE WAYWARD LADY and PAYING THE VIRGIN’S PRICE.

All the continuistas are excited as the June debut of this series approaches. In addition to an ad in Romance Sells, the RWA publication sent to librarians and booksellers displaying upcoming titles in romance fiction (if your library or bookstore doesn’t receive this, they can sign up on the booksellers & librarians page at www.rwanational.org for this FREE booklet) there will be lots of blogs, contests and giveaways. In addition, Christine Merrill, author of Books 2 and 8, has written an Undone featuring some of the characters, which will appear in May as “Taming her Gypsy Lover.” All six authors just completed an on-line read introducing the series that will run at eharlequin.com sometime in May, tentatively entitled “The Lady’s Scandalous Escapade.” So check back often for updates!

NAVY BIRTHDAY AND WRITING ROMANCE

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Kim Lowe, SOS America military liaison and military spouse extraordinaire, does a great job supporting military spouses and promoting the romance genre with her newsletter, book and promo item giveways, and care packages sent to the troops. For her SOS America October newsletter celebrating the US Navy Birthday, I’ve penned a short article on my days as a Navy wife and how it led me into becoming a romance writer. You can find “Anchors Aweigh” on the Little Extra page. Thanks again to Kim for her diligent work on behalf of military families; an extra special thanks to all those in uniformed service to our nation! (Also hugs to the Air Force fans disappointed by Navy’s 16-13 win in the annual USNA-AFA football game last Saturday; great game but I am glad Navy won!)

The Prodical Returns…

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

As you can tell from the date of the previous update, I’ve not been around much this summer–I think the count is 7 days at home since June 1? Three graduations, two weddings (one my son last week in Williamsburg, VA, a great party!) a family reunion in New Mexico, a wedding shower in Connecticut, RWA National in DC, cross-country drives, a family vacation at Disney World… What house? What wip? Finally home and ready to load up new features in anticipation of the arrival of Ned’s book in October!

For history nerds, there’s a long post on the Extras page with a background of the Luddite rebels who appear in Ned’s book. A new contest in honor of the next Wellingford book offering as prizes any of the previous titles (check out the Wellingford page at the Bookshelf tab.) Soon to come, character sketches for Ned’s books, some pics of the locales around Nottingham where the story takes place–and an excerpt. So stop back soon!

Browse and enjoy!

“The Rogue Entices” added to the Bookshelf page for ROGUE’S LADY!

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

In honor of the March UK release of ROGUE’S LADY, I’ve added to the ROGUE’S LADY bookshelf an “extra” chapter written for the now-defunct Amazon Short program. Entitled “The Rogue Entices,” this episode, available for the first time, takes Will and Allegra on a visit to Astley’s Amphitheatre, a famous entertainment venue founded by a former cavalry man that featured dazzling displays of equestrian skill. While Will and Allegra watch the horsemanship under the eye of Allegra’s chaperone, both try to ignore the budding friendship that enhances their physical attraction and remind themselves they each need to concentrate on trying to make respectable marriages—to someone else. Enjoy!
